Janet Drue-Manson has been painting for many years while pursuing other interests and studies. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology and went on to obtain a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology. In addition, she studied art at Essex Community College, Towson State University and Maryland Institute. She has studied with numerous Baltimore artists and continues to pursue new concepts in art. She has taught art to children of many ages and has practiced art therapy.

In Janet's words, "For most of my life I have been nagged unmercifully by a voice calling me to the easel. If you had walked into my house when I was very young, you might have found me on my back (Michaelangelo style) underneath the dining room buffet with a piece of chalk, drawing pictures on the wonderful dark, unvarnished wood that I found on the bottom. Oh, how that wood took the chalk! When there was no more space, I moved on to the next piece of furniture. Scratching pictures in the headboard of my bed was fun. Needless to say, I was always in trouble and had to confine myself to other media. In later years, I found myself thinking up new ways do things in whatever field I chose to work. When I first began to paint in oils, I began a love affair with painting that has never ended. Everything changed---there is no end to inspiration now. Everything excites the desire to capture, interpret and express. What a great ride!"

Janet works in oils and paints portraits, landscapes and still life.
